About Rise and Shine
In February and March 2008, and during the week before Christmas, Rise and Shine, a unique show came into being.
The concept is simple – write a song each day about a story from the daily news, incorporating a live audience’s contributions.
To write and perform a song live is a challenge, it’s fun. The show is highly entertaining, the songs are unpredictable in style and genre but always finished on time. These songs, inspired by events, are a catchy commentary for our age.
The pilot series Feb March and Christmas 2008 were measurable successes. We had great comments about variety and strength of the songs.
We donate money raised by the shows to charity. It’s our intention to produce the Rise and Shine show as a regular broadcast, to franchise the show. We will keep that built-in support for good causes in the show.
The format was devised by Dean Whitbread, who set up Daily Song Ltd to produce the show with fellow songwriter Dan Brittain. We have a plan.
